Jumping Castle Hire Information
All jumping castles must be installed in a safe and suitable location with:
• A minimum of 4.5 metres of vertical clearance from the ground.
• A minimum of 1.5 metres of clear space surrounding all sides of the jumping castle.
Inflatable Safety Information
Important Information for Hirers
This information must be read by the hirer (the person responsible for booking the inflatable equipment).
If the hirer will not be personally supervising the inflatable during the hire period, it is the hirer’s responsibility to ensure that all supervising adults have fully read, understood, and comply with the safety instructions outlined in this document.
For example, Vacation Care providers or event organisers with multiple supervising staff should ensure each supervisor receives a copy of these safety guidelines prior to use.
Glossary
Inflatable / Inflatable Device:
Refers to any land-based inflatable amusement device, including jumping castles and other inflatable hire equipment.
General Inflatable Safety Guidelines
(Applicable to All Inflatable Devices)
TPAMA staff will not remain onsite during the hire period to supervise the equipment or participants. For the safety of all users, the following conditions must be adhered to at all times:
Supervision
• A responsible adult aged 18 years or older must supervise the inflatable at all times.
• Supervisors must remain within 1 metre of the inflatable while it is in use.
• Supervisors should have read and understood all safety information provided in this document.
Installation & Use
• The inflatable must only be used for its intended purpose and must remain securely anchored at all times.
• All jumping castles must be installed with:
o A minimum of 4.5 metres of overhead clearance.
o A minimum of 1.5 metres of clear space around all sides.
Rider Conduct
• Users must not climb, sit, or jump on side walls, netting, entry/exit areas, or slide tops.
• Entry and exit areas must remain clear at all times to allow safe access and exit.
• No rough play, wrestling, flips, somersaults, or unsafe behaviour is permitted.
Rider Restrictions
• Riders must comply with the height and weight restrictions listed on the inflatable’s safety information sheet.
• If no individual limits are displayed, the default limit is:
o Maximum rider weight: 60kg per rider
o Maximum riders at one time: 4
• Manufacturer safety plaques attached to the inflatable must be followed at all times.
Health & Safety Restrictions
The following persons must not use the inflatable:
• Anyone with current or pre-existing injuries.
• Anyone with physical or mental impairments that may affect their ability to use the equipment safely or place others at risk.
• Persons under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication that may impair judgment or coordination.
• Pregnant persons.
Prohibited Items
The following are not permitted on or near the inflatable:
• Shoes
• Food or drinks
• Chewing gum
• Jewellery, earrings, glasses, or sharp objects
• Hats
• Animals
• Water
• Choking hazards
• Adults (unless specifically permitted for the inflatable)
The following are also strictly prohibited:
• Face paint
• Silly string
• Sand
• Glitter
• Hot objects or implements near the inflatable
Rider Grouping
• Riders of similar size and weight must use the inflatable together.
• Do not allow significantly larger and smaller children to use the inflatable at the same time, as this increases the risk of injury.
Weather Conditions
• Do not use the inflatable during:
o Storms
o Thunderstorms
o Heavy rain
o High winds
• Maximum safe operating wind speed is 40km/h.
• If wind speeds increase, immediately remove all riders and switch off the inflatable.
We recommend monitoring local weather conditions using the WillyWeather App and checking forecasts via the Bureau of Meteorology.
Wet Weather Procedures
• If the inflatable becomes wet during use, cease operation immediately.
• Allow the rain to pass and thoroughly dry the inflatable with towels before resuming use, as wet surfaces create slip hazards.
Cleaning & Pack Down
• Please keep the inflatable inflated until it is fully clean and completely dry before pack down.
Indoor Installations
• For indoor hires, ensure the inflatable remains securely positioned at all times.
• If the inflatable moves or shifts position, stop use immediately and re-secure it before continuing.
